Abuja is preparing to host an extraordinary culinary showcase this December as the Federal Government announces plans to attempt the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest dining table during the Mega Renewed Hope NIHOTOUR Gastronomy Festival.
The announcement was made at a joint press briefing in Abuja, led by the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Aare (Dr.) Abisoye Fagade, alongside the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa.
This year’s festival, themed “Oriki: Taste of Culture,” is poised to celebrate Nigeria’s culinary identity while amplifying new investment opportunities across the hospitality and creative economy — aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope vision.
At the heart of the event is a 3.6-kilometre dining table, capable of seating 2,000 to 3,000 guests, which will be used for the official Guinness World Record attempt on the morning of December 6. By evening, the same table will transition into a grand communal feasting arena featuring food experiences, cultural performances, music, and comedy.
Dr. Fagade noted that the initiative is more than a record attempt; it is a strategic push to strengthen tourism, empower youth, expand culinary entrepreneurship, and spotlight Abuja as a major December cultural destination.
Minister Musawa praised Nigeria’s rising global culinary influence, emphasizing that the festival will inspire pride, stimulate business, and promote Nigerian cuisine on the world stage.
The festival and record attempt will be officially inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.
