In a rare moment of symbolism and hope, Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday handed over the mantle of his office — even if just for a day — to 14-year-old Joy Ogah, a spirited advocate for girl-child education. The gesture, simple yet powerful, embodied the Tinubu administration’s promise to uplift the next generation, especially the Nigerian girl child.

Seated in the nation’s second-highest office, Joy spoke not as a child, but as a visionary. “I may be Vice President for a day,” she declared, “but the struggles I represent cannot end in a day. They must continue in our policies, our classrooms, our conversations, and our budgets.” Her words carried a weight far beyond her years, echoing across the corridors of power.

Shettima, visibly moved, reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to education and empowerment, applauding First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her legacy of advocacy. The moment, shared with PLAN International’s delegation led by Helen Mfonobong Idiong.
